If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
When life gets really bad, you might feel as if God is nowhere to be found. There are a lot of reasons why you might feel that way. Perhaps you feel like you are beyond His help or that there is nothing you can do.
Perhaps you have a bad habit you are addicted to. Maybe you have a problem with anger, and you don’t know how to deal with it. These are all things that God can help you overcome.
When you realize that you have sinned against God, you have two choices. You can go to Him and confess that sin, and He will forgive you and cleanse you from that sin. Or you can decide that you are good enough to live with that sin, even though you know it is wrong. God does not accept the latter option.
He wants you to acknowledge your faults and confess them to Him and He is faithful to help you have victory over sin. He will not leave you to struggle without hope. He will walk alongside you as you work on fleeing from sin, and He will not allow anything to keep you from getting to where you need to be.
If you choose to live in your sin, you will remain in your sin. If you choose to be forgiven, then you will receive His forgiveness, and you will be able to live a life of freedom and victory in Christ Jesus.
Heavenly Father, I come before you with a contrite heart. I have done wrong. I have turned away from you and have become unfaithful to you. I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed.
I have not only sinned against you but I have also hurt others, and I have also wounded my own soul. I acknowledge my guilt and pray for forgiveness. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
