But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.. – 1 Peter 2:9

Spiritual Thought
The purpose of creation from the beginning was to make a person with God’s Spirit who had the capacity to recreate God’s kingdom on earth. This was all lost after the fall of man, and thick darkness covered the earth.
There was a break, and this person that God had created in His image and after His likeness, had lost his sense of purpose and lived without a definition of his lot on earth. However, God’s redemptive plan was to save us from this dilemma by offering His only son as payment for our sins and a reuniting medium.
Now, as many people as believe in this sacrifice are a chosen race, the elected few that have acquired citizenship in God’s Holy nation. They are precious to God and serve as a means through which God displays the excellence of His glory to the rest of the world.
This chosen race was once part of the fallen and dark world, but we are now showing forth the difference between a life with Christ in it and one without. Therefore, we should realize that our salvation is never for ourselves alone, but we are media that show the excellence of God’s glory.
This is our calling to priesthood, the highest qualification that there is; we are kings and priests unto God. Both of these are leaders, and so we have a calling to lead the perishing world back to the cross and to God.
Prayer
Father, as I read this, I want to remind myself of how much I am loved by You. Your Word declares it and we have all seen the proof.
God of our salvation, I ask that You help me remember who I am in you and who You are. I know that I’m a sinner saved by grace. You are my Savior. You are the vine and we are the branches. We need to be connected to you so that life can flow from You to us.
I praise You for what You have done for me and the power that You have given me to live for you. I give you all the praise and glory. in Jesus’ name.
