Biblical Truths To Remember When You Feel Forgotten

We all go through moments in life when we feel forgotten by God. Times when we feel like God is distant. Those times when we fall sick, our family member gets into trouble with the law, and our friends abandon us.

In such times it is easy for us to start walking in unbelief. It is easy for you to start looking for sympathy and approval from social media and the world.

But you cannot survive on likes, follows, and comments.

Yes, they may make you feel loved and special for a while, but soon reality strikes and you realize that most of those people don’t know who you really are.

They don’t share your struggles, and to be completely honest, they don’t care.

The truth is:

Even though you may feel forgotten right now, God is there with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Here are three biblical truths to remember when you feel forgotten:

Feeling Forgotten Is A Feeling, Not The Truth

you are not alone woman of God

It doesn’t feel like God is there with you, but remember, as believers, we do not walk by our feelings.

“for we walk by faith, not by sight.”  2 Corinthians 5:7

See, while our feelings seem so real, they are only there because of the way we think. Right now, you feel forgotten because you have thoughts in your mind that are triggering those feelings.

Maybe the enemy is bombarding you with lies. He keeps telling you that God will never come through for you.

He is probably reminding you of your failures and making you believe that your sins are the reasons why God has forgotten about you.

You need to stand firmly on the truth and remember that God is with you.

Let God’s words be your truth and not the lies of the enemy. Today, choose to walk by faith and not your feelings.

God Has Good Plans For You

Jeremiah 29-11 bible verse
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11 is a great verse to meditate on when you feel down and forgotten.

Look, God says that he has good plans for you, and that means that he has not forgotten about you. Maybe you are in a season of waiting, and God is preparing you for what lies ahead.

Instead of focusing on what is not happening, use this time to focus on God’s faithfulness.

God will never harm you. Even if you stumble, God will not let you be forsaken. He is there with you every step of the way. You only need to hold onto him.

You Will Reap A Harvest

harvest of the lord

There are times when we try our level best to do good and yet end up feeling forgotten.

We pray, fast, and serve others, yet things turn against us instead of for us. It is easy to give up at such times and cry out like David “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me”

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? Psalms 22:1.

It is not wrong to tell God how you feel. In fact, the best thing to do at such times is to run to him and tell him how you feel. But also remember that God sees your tears. Do not grow weary in doing good because you will reap a harvest. Galatians 6:9

Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season
if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9

All in all:

Be intentional about trusting God and standing firm in his promises during this season when you feel forgotten.

Remember that we walk by faith and not by sight. God is with you always just put your trust in him and know that he makes everything beautiful in its time.
