3 Reasons Why God Wants You To Help Others

Reasons Why God wants you to Help Others

When was the last time you did something great for another person without expecting anything in return?

Now you might be thinking that for you to help others, you need to have a lot of money, influence or a good position but that is not it.

Our Heavenly Father is concerned about the intentions of your heart more than anything. So it doesn’t matter if you have a lot or little all that matters is where your heart. Help comes in different ways. It doesn’t have to be in the form of money or material possessions.

You can help someone through prayer, physically, and by giving them good advice.

But, don’t tell a person that you will pray for them when you can help them materially or financially. (James 2:14-17)

 Why is helping others important?

Helping Others Glorifies God

Christians help others because God expects them to.

So it is not a matter of if you feel like helping. Like an obedient child, you need to be there for others because your Heavenly Father expects you to.

There will be times when God will ask you to help someone you don’t like. Do it because obedience is better than sacrifice. (1Samuel 15:22)

Remember, Jesus did not feel like going to the cross, but he obeyed his father to the point of death.

We Transform Lives By Helping Others

A small act of kindness can change a person’s life and the lives of other people in society. Small acts of kindness move human beings.

When they see you helping others, they feel challenged to help, and this brings transformation in society.Jesus saved us from going to hell by dying on the cross for us.

When Joseph interpreted the dream of the chief cupbearer, he not only transformed his life but the lives of the Egyptians and also his family. It was through that small act of kindness that he was made prime minister of Egypt. (Genesis 40:9-15)

It Makes You Feel Good

Think of the times you’ve helped other people.

How did that act of kindness make you feel?

Did it leave you feeling happy?

Did it give you a sense of fulfillment?

God never asks us to do things that are not beneficial to us.

God wired us for relationships, so it only comes naturally for us to help others; that is why people who are mean towards others are always grumpy and angry like Nabal. (1 Samuel 25:2-3)

In short:

God expects to help each other. So helping others glorifies God. When you help others, you help society because your act of kindness will be repeated elsewhere. Not just that, helping others will cause you to feel good about yourself.

Do not feel discouraged when you help others and don’t get anything in return.  Your Heavenly Father will reward you in heaven.
