September is the ninth month of the year. It marks the end of the third quarter of the year.
It’s a good time to encourage yourself because the finish line is not far. The year will be over in another three months. There’s a lot you can pray for in September to ensure that you gear up to finish the year well.
God will give you the grace you need to finish what you started or let go of what no longer serves a purpose in your life. He is your guide and helper at all times. His light will direct your path.
Below are 5 prayer points for September
1. Good Stewardship
It’s important to be a good steward of the resources God has placed in your hands. You need to focus on good stewardship despite the pressure to complete projects or assignments or see the fruit of your labor.
Pray for the wisdom to steward the resources at your disposal. Whether its human, financial, or other resources, don’t strain them in a bid to make sure you finish fast. Seek God’s wisdom and understanding instead.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
You could end up with a real mess if you push yourself and others too much.
God has plans and strategies to help you at this point. Ask God to help you avoid wastage or extravagance.
Have a balance in what you do and how you spend money. Allocate resources where you need them. If possible, get more things done with fewer resources.
Pray for God to help you use your time wisely. Spend more time on the things that are a priority and less time on those that are not. Have a set time for the things you do daily.
Leave your time, money, and other resources in God’s hands. He will show you how to use them to your advantage.
2. Faithfulness
God makes it clear that he is faithful to us, and this is regardless of whether we are faithful to him. He watches over his word to make sure it achieves everything he wants.
Your loving kindness, The Lord, is in the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Psalm 36:5
For us to finish what God has called us to do, we are to be faithful to him. It is when our allegiance is with him that we care about his work, ways, and heart.
Pray and ask God to help you be faithful to him. It’s not always easy especially when difficult circumstances crop up. We serve a loving God who is able to help us when we need him.
Pray and ask God to help you do what he asks you to do wholeheartedly. When boredom or fatigue checks in, it can be hard to show your commitment to anything.
Your heart can be weighed down by many things. Leave your burdens with the Lord so you will have room for the things of God.
Ask God to increase your faith for the things he’s called you to do. When you remain in faith, you can get more done. Faith comes by hearing God’s word and reading the Bible will increase your faith.
3. Thank God For His Favor Upon Your Life
God has given you favor throughout the year (Psalm 5:12) and it is time to thank him for it.
For you will bless the righteous. Lord, you will surround him with favor as with a shield. Psalm 5:12
He has taken you to places you would otherwise not have made it to by yourself. You don’t have to do anything to deserve his favor, he gives it to you to help you fulfill his purpose for your life.
Thank God for giving you favor with those who gave you opportunities to do one thing or the other. They didn’t have to but did it as a step of obedience to God.
Thank God for those who put in a good word for you and you got hired to a certain organization and have a very good job.
Thank God for those who gave you the resources you needed to do your work, move house, do a course, etc. They lightened your load.
Thank God for those who gave of their finances out of their generous hearts. They did not have to give you but they did. It was a sacrifice on their end.
Thank God for the strangers who helped you in one way or another without asking you for anything in return.
4. God’s Protection
God is always watching over you. He is your shield and protector day and night.
But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. Psalm 3:3
He never sleeps or slumbers. He wants to ensure you are safe always. There is an enemy who wants to destroy you and stop you from finishing anything you put your heart to.
Ask God to put His hedge of protection on the work he has given you. He has already promised that his plans and purposes for your life will prevail. That means the enemy’s plans will not prosper in your life.
Pray for God’s protection over your family and those you work with each day. The devil will always try to attack you through those who are closest to you.
Ask God for his protection as you leave the house and come back. A lot could happen out there and you may not see any danger coming your way. He can see it and wants to protect you from it.
Not everyone has your best interests at heart. Ask God to protect you from those who don’t understand your path in life. They may not see where God is taking you and may lead you in the wrong direction.
5. Focus On Assignments At Hand
Many things can take your focus away from God’s purpose for your life. It is easy to give your attention to many things and lose sight of the work God has given you.
The stuff that makes us lose focus is not all bad. A lot of it is good, but you have to let go of the good to embrace the great.
Ask God to turn your heart to what is important in this season. When you are single minded, you can have more focus in what you are doing. It is possible to block out what is not important in the moment.
Pray and ask God to show you what he wants you to focus on in the present moment. Let go of things that have outlived their purpose in your life.
Ask God to help you let go of groups, meetings, or relationships that are taking your focus away from him and what he has called you to do.
Pray for the concentration you need to focus on the task at hand. It is normal for your mind to wander as you work.
Declare you have the mind of Christ that is powerful and full of wisdom.
Conclusion
September is not too far from the end of the year but you can keep your focus on your present moment and not worry about the end. You have come far and have accomplished a lot. Give yourself some credit.
Focus on your task at hand because your steps will lead you to a great end. You have one more quarter to go and trust God to get you to the finish line.
Enjoy God’s blessings in your life along the way and take your time to smell the coffee.
Give God the glory for answering your prayers with his sure salvation.
