5 Reasons Why You Must Read Your Bible

Sharing is caring!

Unlike other books, the Bible never gets old.  It continues to be a best seller in the world.

Although scriptures were written long ago, they continue to work in this life and in the one to come.

God has instructed us as believers to read his word and live accordingly.

So while reading the Bible is essential, we also need to believe everything written in it.  (Matthew 7:24)

Fact:

God created us to worship, glorify, and enjoy him.

But for us to worship him, we need to know who God is, who we are, and why he created us.

How do we do that?

We need to make Bible reading a habit.

Here are five reasons why you need to read the Bible regularly:

Keeps Us From Sin

Reading the Bible helps us to know the will of God and the things that are outside his will.

Reading the word of God, meditating on it, and practicing it will help you to live according to the will of God, and this will keep you from sin. (Hebrews 4:12)

Helps Us To Become Fruitful

God has placed us on earth so that we may worship him and become fruitful in every good work.

But for us to be productive, we need to know what is required of us and how to go about it.

The truth is what the world considers as fruitfulness is not God’s definition of bearing fruit.

Making a lot of money, having a great family and career is excellent, but according to the Biblically, there is more to success than that.

Being successful means honoring God with your finances, family, career, and life.

The Bible helps us to know what being fruitful means. It also helps us how to bear fruit.

Gives Us Guidance

To live a successful life, you need guidance, right?

The Psalmist calls the word of God a lamp unto his feet, a light unto his path. (Psalm 119:105)

We are on a journey, and God has given us the Bible to offer us guidance in our journey.

We are in this world but not of this world.  There are standards within which we need to live by so that we can live exemplary lives.

The only way to know these standards is by reading scriptures.

Helps Us To Know God’s Will

God has given each one of us free will. We can choose to live the way we want, but with each choice, there is a consequence.

It is not God’s will for us to perish.  God wants us to enjoy eternal life with him.

But for us to live eternally with God, we need to live according to his will.

For us to receive his blessings, we need to know what they are and how to receive them.

The Bible contains verses and promises that help us know the will of God and the blessings that he has given to us.

It Nourishes Our Souls

The word of God is true, living, and sharp.  It is food for our souls.  We need to study and meditate on it daily so that we can become spiritually healthy.

When we read the word, our faith grows, and we transform into the image of Christ. (Matthew 4:4)

In conclusion:

Reading the Bible is very important as it helps us to become Christ-like.

We need to read the word of God every day so that we can glorify God with our lives.
