Those things are not welcome in this home!
Ridding Your Home of Ungodly Things
“Cleanliness is next to Godliness” has always been engraved on our minds when it comes to keeping a tidy home. In keeping a Christ-centered home, there is more to merely sweeping, mopping, and doing dishes.
As Christians, we must also keep our homes “spiritually sparkling clean” to prevent ungodly things from being invited in.
“Be alert...the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for
someone to devour.” - 1 Peter 5:8
Inviting the Unwelcome In
We may not always be mindful of what we invite into our home when it comes to things we watch, read, listen to, or even what we wear. Our children unknowingly opens the door to the unwelcome with their toys, cartoons, or video games. Evil seeks to worm its way into our homes through any means.
Satan has a knack of infiltrating our homes indirectly through our passive interests and activities. How often do you catch yourself or members of your family watching something on television that does not honor God, or perhaps your children’s friends bring over games or books to share that do not reflect your Godly values?
It’s important to be aware of what these things are and how they can suck the spiritual cleanliness right out of your home. As Christians, we strive to maintain a Christ-centered home but are there things in your home that need to be “cleaned” out and removed?

Grab a Trash Bag
It’s time to get serious and rid your home of ungodly things that prevents a clean spiritual environment.
Grab a trash bag and walk through each room of your home as well as your yard. Based on the above list of things that should not be in your home, it’s time to grab those things and do some cleaning.
Ask the Lord to show you the things you need to see so that you may honor Him in getting rid of them.
Do not sell these items you get rid of or give them to someone else. Passing evil on to someone else is by no means the Christian thing to do. Just destroy them, and chuck them into the garbage.
A Brand New Home
Once you have removed the things from your home that do not represent God, your home will sparkle spiritually and will be refreshed and filled with the full presence of the Almighty One!
Stand guard to maintain your “clean” home and as God commands us, do not bring sinful things into your home.
“You shall not bring an abomination into your house, and like it come under the ban; you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it, for it is something banned.” - Deuteronomy 7:26
Too Much Stuff
Lastly, we come to something we would not assume of keeping our home spiritually cluttered. It’s having too much stuff!
Materialism has become an epidemic in our culture because if it’s new and trendy, we just got to have it. Before we realize it, we have stuff we don’t even need. As these things consume space in your home, you find yourself frustrated and left with a sense of clutter or lack of organization. This robs you of peace.
Just as our spirit needs to breathe in the daily renewal from Christ, so too does our home. The clutter of too much stuff eats away at your joy and constantly sits there nipping at your mind that you need to de-clutter.
You will experience victory and freedom in cleaning your house, so it is spiritually sparkling clean!
“One’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.” - Luke 12:15
