A virtuous woman is one who is admired by her peers and those around her. She is an asset to her community and she constantly has the word of God as her refuge and shield.
She is not perfect and she makes mistakes but she understands how to pick herself up and brush herself off.
She is a woman of substance and if she is married her husband is blessed, if she is a mother then her children will be blessed. If such a woman is single she is a joy to her friends and family.
A woman who is virtuous is one that the writer of the Book of Proverbs talks about in, Proverbs 31:25.
The writer says, “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she shall rejoice in the time to come.” A woman of dignity is one who never sacrifices her self-worth for material or worldly gains. She knows that the God she serves is powerful and that he will give her everything she needs.
In the 1970s, Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote the lyrics to a song that they had no idea would become such a classic. The song was “Because He Lives” it became an instant hit.
If you are not familiar with it, the chorus goes like this, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, because He lives, all fear is gone; because I know He holds the future and life is worth the living, just because He lives!”
Isn’t this the reason that the woman who is clothed with strength and dignity laughs without fear of the future and rejoices in the time to come?
She is so connected with the light and joy that God bestows upon those who follow him with their whole heart so she fears nothing that the unpredictable future can throw her way.
In our world, the outer beauty of a woman is often more valued than her inner beauty. If you look at the pictures in magazines, you can clearly see that physical perfection is everything.
You can also see how some women desperately try to achieve this type of perfection. It can lead to insecurity and disillusionment with self. It can rob women of the strength and dignity that they should possess.
Christian women are not immune to this and must always seek to put on the whole armor of God in order to preserve their identity in the Lord.
Women have long been the gatekeepers of society and a woman’s strength and dignity can determine the future of those closest to her and impact society.
In order to be clothed in strength and dignity, women must be clothed in the word of God.
The world has so many ways of attacking a woman’s sense of worth and dignity, it is impossible to remain immune to it all, unless there is some kind of shield.
That shield is Jesus Christ himself. He is the one who gives women confidence in who they are and what they can accomplish.
