Bible Verses About Ants

There is a lot to learn from the ant. There is wisdom that God has put in their existence, that whoever is ready to learn, will learn from and prosper.

The writer of the proverbs says:

“Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise.” Proverbs 6:6

The ants are not lazy, they are always up and doing. Believers can learn from this trend, and know that the work of God is an occupation we are engaged in for as long as we live. Jesus said:

“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work.” John 9:4

There is work to be done; the work of the gospel, and of growing the church of God by strengthening the believers.

All hands must be on deck, believers must wake up from the slumber of deceit that keeps them relaxed and comfortable in only attending church services. There is real work to be done.

There are forces that oppose the growth and will of God on the earth. That was why Jesus taught us to pray, saying, “Your will be done on the earth” Matthew 6:10. There is the will of God that must be done, and we are the vessels of His expression.

We are the tools in His hands, if we don’t wake up from sluggish ways, then how can we accomplish? Proverbs 6:9

We must join hands in building the kingdom of God as fellow workmen who are open and ready to serve God! Romans 16:3-4

  1. It’s funny. I was actually studying the behavior of ants and I was wondering what the Bible had to say about them. One of the questions I am looking at is What does the ant teach us in Proverbs?

In reading the Proverbs it kind of reminds me of the cartoons I use to watch as a kid. The ants would prepare for the winter and store up what they needed to survive the long hard winter. I think the Bible teaches us to be just like these ants and be prepared for the future.

I love finding this page. Thank you Woman of God

    1. Hi Heather. I am aging myself but I can remember a cartoon as well when I was a kid about ants prepping for the winter.

The Bible doesn’t have many verses directly mentioning ants but there are many verses that fit the “persona” or “work ethic” of an ant. They are a strong community that works to build the colony just like us as believers are to work to grow the Kingdom of the Lord.

They care for one another and each has a specific function in their community. Reminds me of the words of Paul where the body has many parts that do different functions but are all part of the one body. The body of Christ.
