There are many courses, videos, podcasts, books and forums and you would be spoiled for choice. God’s intent is for us to improve ourselves with his help, not on our own.

There are 3 simple ways that you can improve yourself with the help of God.

1. Conform Your Thoughts To God’s.

When you think like God does, you see life from his perspective and you can change your life to reflect his will.

Renewing your mind with the word of God aligns your thoughts with God’s.

Read books by Christian authors who have a lot of biblical wisdom to share with you.

2. Meditate On The Word Of God.

According to Psalm 119:98-100, meditating on God’s word makes you wiser than your enemies, gives you more insight than your teachers and gives you more understanding than your elders.

Meditate on a parable, story, character, passage or Bible verse and apply it in your life.

3. Allow The Holy Spirit To Work In You.

Self help without God’s help leads to surface change that is temporary.

Your Helper, the Holy Spirit will work in you until his fruit manifests through you (Galatians 5:22-23).

Lasting change comes from the transformation of your inner being.

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas in your life where he wants you to make changes.

Help me to change, grow, and do better!

“I know your thoughts and needs before you utter a word or think a thought. I will give you the power to overcome and grow in your faith and to be the believer I designed you to be!”

Make prayer and reading your Bible a priority. You will see and hear His voice and instruction through these things.

that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24

If we are truly walking with God, we no longer have the desire to sin. Those things we once took pleasure in cause us disgust now.

Are you still entertaining ungodly things in your life?

Have you accepted Christ as your savior?

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11

When we put on the full armor of God, we equip ourselves to combat temptation and evil.

It will protect us from falling back to our old self and to continue to walk in line with God.

Ephesians 6:10-18 The Armor of God

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19

The more time you spend talking to God, the more you will become Christ-like. Your whole attitude will change!

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2

When we give our lives to Christ, God converts our minds from worldly to Godly.

Our body is now a holy temple, and as such, we must protect it against indulging in things of the world that defy ourselves (carnality, swearing, drinking, smoking, drugs, etc.)

Humility is a hard pill to swallow for some.

If you find that you value yourself or your status over others, it’s time to reevaluate your heart.

A heart of stone keeps us from forgiving. This keeps us in bondage. Take it to God and ask for His forgiveness, and He will enable you to forgive and move on.

For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:43-45

The true heart of someone is evident in their words and actions.

The abundance of the heart escapes through the mouth. Are you speaking kind and edifying words to others, or are you tearing them down?

Once you have asked God to help you change, He will show you what you need to do.

He will give you wisdom, insight, and reveal things to you in ways that will surprise you.
