Bible Verses About Mountains
“The mountains melt like wax at the presence of Yahweh, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.” Psalm 97:5
One of the biggest mental errors we can make is to underestimate the power of our God. God spoke the universe into creation.
The Bible uses some colorful and vivid imagery to describe the authority that God has over nature. But how does that relate to us?
Just as God has power over physical mountains, He also has power over spiritual ones.
We might not have real, tangible mountains in our way, but we all face obstacles that can seem insurmountable at times.
Good news: God is bigger than those, too.
Spiritual mountains can come in many forms. Maybe for you, that mountain is financial insecurity. Maybe it’s a difficult decision. Maybe it’s a terminal diagnosis. Whatever your mountain is, you can be confident that God not only sees it, but is actively moving it.
In Exodus 14:14, Moses tells the Israelite people, “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” The Israelites were being pursued by a powerful Egyptian army.
This was, in many ways, a problem of enormous magnitude. What happened next? God parted the Red Sea, destroyed their enemies, and made His glory known throughout the nations.
The same God who did all that is abundantly able to move whatever mountain you’re currently facing. The Lord will fight for us; we need only to wait upon Him.
As we wait for God to work, what should be our response?
One word: faith. In Mark 11:25, Jesus says, “Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.”
Make no mistake – God is not limited in any way. He can do whatever He pleases, whenever He pleases. But in some respects, our faith is a key component to God’s will for our lives.
Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
It’s not enough to hope that, by some miracle, God is able to fix our problem. We have to believe, with all of our being, that He can. When we have that kind of faith, anything is possible.
Finally, should rest in the truth that God is able to do the impossible. All of human history is filled with evidence of God doing miraculous wonders in the world, and He is no less able today.
When you see that mountain ahead of you, don’t be discouraged. Don’t be paralyzed by fear and hopelessness.
Instead, take your worries “to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think” Ephesians 3:20.
