Bible Verses About Sight

A SPIRITUAL THOUGHT ON SIGHT

Proverbs 29:18: “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed.” The Bible aligns sight with the ability of a person or group of people to see beyond the circumstance or situation that surrounds them at present. This comes as a result of working and walking with God and His Holy Spirit.

In the teaching of Jesus, He wanted His disciples and listeners to discern the importance of a good spiritual sight to life and godliness, and He repeatedly taught them about sight. In one of these teachings (Matthew 6:22-23), Jesus said, “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

This shows that the light or illumination of God’s Word in your life and living is only as bright as your perception of Him.

However, the good news is that as we walk diligently with Jesus, fixing our sight on Him. The hope we have is “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,” (Ephesians 1:17-18).
