Bible Verses About The Name of Jesus

The name of Jesus is a stronghold, meaning that there are certain possibilities that come with the presence of the name. It is a name that was given authority by God Himself because of the sacrifice that Jesus made:

Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11

This name is not just in the word “Jesus” but is the understanding of the place and authority that the Lion and the Lamb who now sits on the throne at the right hand of the Father holds. The name of Jesus has been given to believers as a weapon that brings victory when the power therein is properly understood and applied.

Just as the sons of Sceva knew the word “Jesus” but did not have a revelation of it, and so it was fruitless to them (Acts 19:13), so also will it be if we have not mixed the understanding with faith; it will profit us nothing. (Hebrews 4:2)

Miracles, signs, and wonders were done by the power of the name by the apostles and is still done today. The name of Jesus is the testimony that believers bear to the death and resurrection of Jesus and the authority that He has received from the Father. (Revelation 12:11)
