Cultivating God’s Presence In Your Life

Do you want to thrive in life?

If so, you need God’s presence in your life.

Yes, you have been told that you need to work hard and stay motivated, and that is great advice.

But the most important thing that will cause you to thrive in good and bad times is God’s presence.

Moses understood this very well; that is why he told God not to send them if his presence was not going with them.

It is God’s presence that differentiates us from unbelievers. (Exodus 33:15)

You are a carrier of God’s presence at home, in your industry, career, town, and ministry.

But how do we cultivate God’s presence in our lives?

Be Intentional

Asking God to manifest his presence in your life is good, but you know what is great?

Practicing his presence in all that you do and everywhere you go.

See your heavenly Father helping you to run that business. See him holding your hand and helping you to make difficult decisions about your family, ministry, or career.

The more you do this, the easier it becomes to cultivate his presence. (Psalm 23)

Obey The Word of God

It is very difficult to cultivate the presence of God if you’re not studying his word and obeying it.

You need to practice what you read in the Bible. Do not read the word of God as some kind of storybook.

Know that what is written in there is the truth and allow the Holy Spirit to help you put it into practice.

Spend Time Connecting With Nature

It is easy to get caught up with life.  But you can still take small breaks in between your schedule so that you can spend time outside to connect with God through his creation.

The word of God says that the heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky’s the works of his hands (Psalm 19:1).

When we take time to connect with nature, we can see God’s character, nature, and how he loves us.

Talk To God

Another great way to cultivate the presence of God is to talk to him.  Make it a habit to talk to God all the time.

But how do you do in your office or when you are in the middle of a project? By aligning your thoughts with his word and meditating scripture.

See, God knows what you are thinking even before you speak it out so you can have an inner dialog with him in times when you cannot verbalize your prayers.

Talk to him like you would a friend.  Let him know your fears and your dreams.

And not just that, we should also listen to him for he talks in a still small voice. (Exodus 33:11)

In short

It is hard to go ahead in life as a Christian when you believe that God is far away from you. We need to cultivate the presence of God daily so that we can be in tune with the Spirit of God.

The presence of God is very important in our lives because it differentiates us from other people. Talk to him, read his word and obey it, and connect with him through nature.
