God created us emotional beings and when we experience loss, hurt and betrayal, what we need the most is comfort.
Some people turn to alcohol, others to food, drugs, or other addictions.
But, did you know God has given us the book of Psalms for our comfort?
Those who wrote the Psalms poured out their hearts to God during the good and troubling times.
Their life experiences inspired them to pen the Psalms, and they used their poetic and musical gifts to do so.
Psalm 119:52 says we will find comfort in the word of God.

I remembered Your judgments of old, O Lord, And have comforted myself. Psalm 119:52
If you are experiencing the loss of a family member, retrenchment from a job, a terminal illness, or any other difficult life situation, reach out for God’s comfort through the Psalms.
God will show you compassion even where the loss is of your own making.
To get the most out of the Psalms, look at the title that precedes each and choose the one appropriate for your situation.
For example, the title of Psalm 57 (NKJV) is “Prayer for Safety from Enemies.” You can read it when facing attacks by your enemies and those who turn against you.
God’s comfort in your suffering comes from the promises He gives you during tough times.
They give you hope because you know He will come through for you (Psalm 119:50).
Cast your cares on the Lord and He will see you through your trials. He is the God who will also restore all you have lost.
