And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Genesis 1:3
An explosion of His essence on the scene of the inhabitable – that’s what light is.
When God called light into the darkness of the beginning, He unleashed His nature onto the deep. For impenetrable darkness to be overcome by the light of God demonstrates how powerful the light is.
Let’s now talk a bit about the practicality of light. Go into your bedroom at night, and before your turn on the light, take a deep breath. With that breath, consider the helplessness and limitation of your eyes in a room without illumination.
Think about how unattractive your gorgeous room looks in the dark. Then turn on the light. What is the first thought that comes to mind? You should feel relieved to have some brightness in your room. Suddenly, the beauty of your space comes to life, and all kinds of possibilities are within reach.
Light is the most crucial thing God created. Light is the very foundation for creation.
This light, however, is not something physical. Rather, this light is the manifestation of the wisdom of God. Even as physical light makes things clear for the eyes to see, so did God’s light make the potential creation on earth possible for God to see.
Every creator needs to see in their mind the thing they want to create before they can fabricate it. This, in a sense, is the way God’s light worked in the beginning.
But what a mystery this is – God spoke out the light, and it manifested.
My Father, I pray for the light of Your guidance. I do not know where to turn, what to do, and who to trust. Help me to seek Your light and direction. Lord, Thank You for the light of Your truth.
Thank You for leading us in Your direction, for You alone are perfect and holy. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins.
You loved us so much that You sent your very own son to die on the cross for our sins. Please forgive our sins and wash us clean in the blood of Your Son, Jesus.
When I come to You in prayer, You lead me. My faith in You gives me comfort, peace, and assurance. May You give me the desire to know You and love You more. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
