Christian Fashionistas “Dressing For God”

Let’s dress from the inside out! Place your focus on the latest trends of your soul and spirit.

Let’s Enter The Shoppe

Looking into the window of a very unique clothing boutique, you see a figure busily working. He turns and waves you to come inside.

As you enter this unique apparel shoppe, a mannequin dressed in one of the trendiest outfits head to toe is centered in the middle of the shoppe.

On her head, you will find a lovely and beautiful hat. This hat is interwoven with metallic fibers of gold and silver. You think to yourself how cute, and fun this hat would look on you, so you try it on. It fits perfectly and looks amazing on you. God will take the hat and place it aside for you to hold while you continue to shop.

A Belt Please

There is a nifty little belt on the mannequin that is calling your name! Go ahead, try it on. As you wrap it around your waist and buckle it, you spin around in front of the mirror and gaze at how it is comfortable and trims your waist down a bit. Let’s go ahead and have God set this aside as well for you as you keep looking around.

The Cute Little Frock

You just can’t resist giving the little dress on the mannequin a try as well. Taking it to the fitting room, you change into the dress, and wow, it looks fabulous on you. The flowing feel of the fabric moves as you move and it will be super cute to wear to church or out to dinner. Leaving the fitting room with the dress on your arm, you begin to look around some more. God asks you if he can place the dress up front with your other things so you can be free to continue shopping.

The Feet Fell In Love

Moving through the shoe section, you find a pair of ankle boots that would tie in the hat, dress and belt giving an overall look of super-fly boho cuteness. The casual-chicness is versatile and has your name written all over it. You try the ankle boots on and walk back and forth, then in front of the mirror to see how they look on you. Yep, you’ll take them! Here comes God to see if you need any help. You hand him the ankle boots and asks if he could put those up front as well.

You think to yourself, “Why haven’t I shopped here before? This place is amazing because everything seems to be made just for me!”

A Complete Look

You have your outfit, but a handbag would really complete it! Meandering over to the handbags, you find one that has an overall hip feel to it that would definitely add the finishing touch to the overall look you are trying to achieve. Wait, you find a different one that is a bit deeper and sturdier with straps that you know will be able to hold the weight of the many things that will go into it.

As you carry the handbag up to the front, God smiles and asks, “Will that be everything?” Glancing next to the register, you see a stack of little pink Bibles that have a sign that says, “Free.”  God asks if he can place one of the pink Bibles in your shopping bag. “I would love one, thank you so much!” you reply.

And The Damage Is...

Placing everything in a shopping bag, he turns towards the register. As he is adding everything up, you begin to sweat a little not knowing if you have enough to cover the entire outfit. He looks you in the eye and says, “You owe….” and your heart begins to beat fast…”nothing” he finishes.

The Total Bill

“My daughter, you owe nothing because I freely give you this suit of armor. All you had to do was come in and choose each piece.”

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:10-13

The Belt

Your belt should be wrapped firmly around your waist to gird you with God’s strength.

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.” Ephesians 6:14

The Dress

Wear this to cover and maintain your honesty and virtue while keeping God’s commandments.

“...with the breastplate of righteousness in place.” Ephesians 6:14

The Ankle Boots

Keep your feet ready to do God’s work, spread peace and share the gospel.

“...and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” Ephesians 6:15

The Handbag

The deep and sturdy handbag you chose will hold your faith and your strength. Your faith will conquer everything.

“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:16

Your Hat and The Pink Bible

The hat covers you, protects you and shields you. The pink Bible is the word of God and pierces through lies and deceit teaching you the truth.

Jesus paid for your sins, and nothing will separate us from Him. The word of God is infallible, inerrant, and your standard of truth. The word of truth slays attempts to deceive while exposing untruths.

“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” Ephesians 6:17-18
