Prayer for a Good Night’s Sleep

prayer for a good night's sleep

Lord, I praise you for creating sleep as a way for mankind to rest.

Thank you for the ability to sleep at night and rest from the cares of the day.

Some nights I sleep well and others I struggle to fall asleep.

Grant me a good night’s sleep every night that I may rest my mind and body.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the Lord alone, make me live in safety. Psalm 4:8

You give your beloved sleep and I claim that promise for every night, even when my mind is in turmoil. Let me not take sleep for granted and know that it is a blessing from you. Help me clear my mind before going to bed so I can enjoy my sleep.

DAILY BREAD

The hardest time to sleep well at night is when I am going through a difficult period. I toss and turn in bed worrying about what will happen.

On such nights, I will give you my burdens knowing you will take care of them as I sleep.

My worry cannot add a day to my life and it only wearies my mind.

I will trade in my worry for your peace that surpasses human understanding.

When I sleep, help me remember you are always watching over me for you never sleep or slumber (Psalm 121:4).

I need not fear danger at night because I am under your protection. Send your angels to encamp around me as I sleep. Protect me from nightmares and evil dreams.

I declare I have the mind of Christ and the enemy cannot attack it as I sleep at night.

Rescue me from all evil attacks by the enemy and destroy his plans to deprive me of sleep.

Stand guard on my bedside as I lay my body to rest.

May I wake up refreshed each day because of a good night’s sleep.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Bedtime Prayer for Peace

God, thank You for this day. As I lay down to sleep, I give You all my worries. Quiet my mind and protect my dreams. Surround this room with Your peace and let Your presence be my rest. I trust You with tonight—and tomorrow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
