Preparing To Battle

Prayer Closet Strategy

Prayer is a battle waged on spiritual warfare. The battle you are about to undertake in your prayer closet (war room) will not be a physical one but one that is spiritual. Before you begin your war on evil, you must have the full armor of God on.

Do not move forward without first asking Christ to give you the armor you need to fight the battle as a prayer warrior.

“Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.” Ephesians 6: 10-13

Put Your Battle Gear On: The Armor of God

The Belt of Truth

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist…” Ephesians 6:14

The Breastplate of Righteousness

“Stand firm then…with the breastplate of righteousness in place.” Ephesians 6:14

Feet Ready With The Gospel

“…and with your feet fitted with readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” Ephesians 6:15

The Shield of Faith

“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:16

The Helmet of Salvation

“Take the helmet of salvation…which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17

The Sword of The Spirit

“Take the sword of the spirit…which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17

God’s Divine Strategy

The evil one is strategizing against you to keep you from your goal of answered prayer. He will do whatever he can to discourage you and to make you weak in your effort to do battle.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” John 10:10

You serve a God that is all-powerful who will give you the wisdom to have an amazing strategy to defeat the enemy. God’s divine strategy overcomes the scheming of the evil one.

To win a battle, you must know your own weaknesses, so you are not ambushed. Dig down deep and ask God to reveal those weaknesses and pray for strength and protection over those areas of your life.

Have A Clear Plan Of Victory

Anticipate your offensive and defensive weapons that you will use against the enemy. Have scripture ready and on hand and have them ready as soon as you feel you are under attack.

Put Your Strategy Plan On Paper

  • List the characteristics of the enemy.
  • List any possible things that the enemy will throw at you to block your effort.
  • Write in detail how you will plan to have victory (offensive and defensive) to win the battle.

Amidst The Battle, Worship The Lord

Praise Him for helping you to overcome and win the battle and defeat the enemy. We are powerless, but He can help us to do all things through Him.

Keep Your Focus On The Lord

Focus on Jesus Christ, and He will reveal to you when you need to engage in battle. He will equip you and give you the power of the Holy Spirit to help you walk in victory!

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121: 1-2
