Starting Your Day With God

How do you start your day?  Do you jump out of bed after hitting the snooze button 5 times? Do you begin your day by yelling at your kids or loved ones? Or do you prefer having a peaceful morning so that you can connect with the one who created you?

But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, a refuge in the day of my distress. Psalm 59:16

Starting your day right determines how you end it.

The best way to start your day is by spending time in God’s presence. Look, God already knows how your day is going to look like. So it is better to connect with him first so that he can show you how to handle everything.

Okay, you are probably wondering right now how you can practically start your day with God. But wonder no more!

Here are a few tips to help you:

Spend Time in the Word

You can never know the character of God if you do not spend time in his word.  To understand who God is and the plans he has for your life, you need to take time in his word.

It is okay to read your Bible in the evening or at any time of the day. But by spending the first few minutes of the day in the Bible, you will set your mind right. Not just that, it will be easy to remain grounded in the word of God as you go about your day.

Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105

By Connecting With Him Through Nature

Many of us think that the only way we can connect with God is through the Bible and prayer.  But there are creative ways that Christians can connect with God.  You can choose to go for a walk or jog in the morning and connect with God through nature.

You can watch the beautiful sky or the sunrise to see the awesomeness of God.  It is through creation that we get to see the glory of God.

Having Quiet Time So That You Can Listen To His Voice

Let us be honest; most of us talk a lot when we are in God’s presence, but we barely listen to his voice.  But how would you feel if you wanted to spend time with your friend and all they did was talk and never listen to what you had to say. See, God is not just our father or creator, but he’s also our friend. Like in any given relationship,, we need to listen to his voice so that we can know what he’s telling us.

It is him who gives us instructions about the way we should go about our day. It could be that the enemy has set traps before you. It is only by spending time with God that we can see those traps with our spiritual eyes, and know how to avoid them. (Psalm 19:7-11)

In your prayer time, spend a few minutes listening to God. Ask him to speak to you and show you what lies ahead. Then listen to what he’s telling you and preferably write everything down so that you may not forget.

All in all

It is vital to start your day right because it’s only in doing so that you finish it right. Yes, things may not go your way as the day goes by, but being in tune with God from the very start will help you to complete it in a way that is pleasing to God. Spend time in his word, connect with nature, and listen to his voice so that he can lead you in the way that you should go.
