Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever. – 1 Chronicles 16:34
Giving thanks to God is something that we love to talk about as Christians. And rightly so.
But as humans, we need to know why we should do something for us to take that first step or commit to it.
This verse is an excellent explanation of why each one of us should give thanks to God whether we feel like it or not.
We need to give thanks to God because He is good. When we call something good, we want it for ourselves, and we have an easier time talking positively about it than when we focus on bad things.
When you focus on bad things, you end up being depressed, but when you focus on good things, you become joyful and peaceful. And you want to keep on talking about it.
While there are so many good things happening around us, we should always focus on God and his goodness.
When you're going through a hard time, and you can't bring yourself to thank God for all that is happening in your life, remember that God is good. And that is reason enough for you to give thanks to Him.
Another great thing that this verse tells us about God is His love endures forever.
People claim to love us. We claim to love ourselves. But there are those moments when we let ourselves down, and people can turn against us anytime. It is only God's love that endures forever.
God gave up His own son while we were still sinners to die for us. His love is not dependent on how we act. It depends on His goodness.
The best part is it endures forever.
That is, God's love is everlasting. No one can take it away from us; we are the only ones that can reject the love that God pours on us.
Today is a day to praise You Lord in the best way possible, and thank You for who You are, our sovereign God of the universe.
Thank You for Your love, grace, mercy, and kindness towards me, who does not deserve it. Thank You for being good, faithful, loving, and kind.
