For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds,” says Yahweh; “because they have called you an outcast, saying, ‘It is Zion, whom no man seeks after.’” – Jeremiah 30:17

Spiritual Thoughts

Do you know what it feels like to be left out? Do you understand the gravity of ostracism? For a group of people to whom you were connected, to agree collectively to separate themselves from you is extremely serious and disheartening.

Rejection doesn’t happen suddenly. It’s a build-up of events that leads to this unfortunate conclusion. Something occurs to make people repudiate you.

This piece of scripture alludes to one cause of rejection – wounds. In ancient Israel, when a person suffered an injury or a medical condition that caused bleeding, they were removed from the central residential areas to a place where they could be treated.

This practice was done to mitigate contamination and the spread of disease. Even today, when people are injured or sick, it’s best practice to limit the number of people they physically contact.

An outcast is one who has been rejected by society because they possess some nature or character that is frowned upon by society.

Wounds in our hearts and minds can cause people to turn away from us. Our deficiencies can scare people away. Negative experiences leave us deeply scarred, so much that we send off a vibe people want to steer clear of.

But God is good and has promised to restore and heal us. God cares when you get rejected. He understands the rejection and knows what issues caused it. God wants to set you free because people have despised, excluded, and forgotten you.

God can and will heal all your wounds, and soon everyone will yearn for you.

Prayer

Lord restore health to me. Heal me of every sickness and disease that has befallen me. Heal me Lord, for you care about me and will not leave me to suffer forever! My wounds have hurt me for a while now, but today I am before You and introducing Your word to my situation, heal me.
