He sent them out to preach God’s Kingdom and to heal the sick. – Luke 9:2
What is your mission from the Lord Jesus? What has he sent you to accomplish for him?
Every organization sends out delegates on external assignments with a clear directive. These delegates must understand the directive and adhere to every instruction their boss gives. Veering away from the order is subversion and would lead to the organization’s downfall.
Jesus sent out His apostles with a clear order: Preach the Kingdom of God and heal the sick. If they obeyed the order, they would see success; otherwise, failure. We know they obeyed, as reported by the verses following our text.
Now, the question is: What is your directive from the Lord? Have you had a meeting with him to find out what he requires of you, or are you just standing around being unprofitable?
God has a specific plan for your life. It initially manifests as a plan for each day. God predestines your life. You must know what he has intended for you.
The world around you needs what God wants you to do. There are sad, sick, depressed, poor, confused, angry, violent, unloving people everywhere – people who need a positive change in their lives and stories. And God has intended you to publicize his kind of administration, bringing them the relief they so desperately crave.
So, once more, what is your mission from the Lord Jesus Christ?
God, you have called me to tell people about Jesus Christ and the work on the cross. I know that I have a lot of things to work on. But, I am willing to do whatever it takes to tell people what You have done in my life. Today, I ask that you show me how to use the gifts that You have given me.
Thank You, Lord, for sending your Son to die for me. I want to share what He has done for me with the world. You have commissioned us to go out and preach the Good News.
He died for me and I am free. I no longer have to worry about how I am going to pay for my sins. Your Word says For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23. Thank you Jesus for taking my place on the cross.
